Job Description

About the Role:

  • Provide engineering-level support on assigned and unassigned projects across the lifecycle of new and legacy products.
  • Mentor and coach junior electrical engineers.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and provide electrical engineering support in the R&D department.
  • Apply strong analog or digital electrical engineering expertise.

Qualifications:

  • 8–10+ years of experience in electrical/electronic engineering (must-have).
  • Strong background in PCB design and product engineering.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in R&D and supporting product lifecycle.

Essential functions:

  • Work within a global collaborative R&D team to create and improve printed circuit board designs using Cadence design systems (Allegro). (Other design systems are considered for this role.)
  • Release projects to manufacturing by creating schematic design capture, new part numbers, detailed descriptions, and printed board assemblies (BOM structures) for new and legacy products or projects.
  • Work within the Windchill PDM application tool to store fabrication documentation, schematics, gerber files etc.
  • Resolve differences between design and fabrication requirements by making determinations such as modifying designs versus sending parts back to vendors
  • Attend regular team meetings, including engineering change order meetings in support of manufacturing & quality assurance analysis and correction of manufacturing defects.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering resources, project management, purchasing etc. and assist in applying core engineering concepts to solve complex, unfamiliar, and novel problems.
  • Expected to work with minimal assistance, with an ability to suggest innovative solutions from streamlining processes to completing a backlog of tasks.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with applicable regulations and standards.

COMPETENCIES (What qualities will make you successful):

  • Good understanding of control electronic Products, specifically analog and digital circuits, and power electronics circuits with 8-10 years of experience.
  • Ability to lead PCB specs release in qualification and in PDM.
  • Support qualification of electronic components such as IGBTs, Magnetics, Thyristors, AC/DC capacitors, FAN's, etc.
  • Knowledge of test equipment, CRO, AC Source, DC Source, Auto transformers, Multimeters, Data loggers.
  • Ability to design and implement PCB designs that meet electrical, EMC, Safety, mechanical, thermal and DFA/DFM requirements of the System.
  • Ability to run independent tests, with good knowledge in basic troubleshooting of products.
  • Ability to generate alternate solutions during feasibility studies during PCB modifications.
  • Prior experience working with design packages and product Lifecyle Management (PLM) tools is required (more specifically Allegro and Windchill PDM or similar type processes)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally (i.e. with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Project Management) is strongly desired.
  • Detail Oriented: Able to accurately follow precise procedures and thoroughly complete assigned tasks by using strong follow-up skills.

Education & other skills:

  • 4 Year bachelor's degree in electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Ladder Logic GE Proficy Software or Modicon Control Expert Software would be ideal
