Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing care to animals in our facility, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals and a strong understanding of various animal behaviors. This position requires a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and organized environment while delivering excellent customer service to pet owners. Days are Friday and Saturday

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kennel area by daily cleaning cages, play areas, and equipment.
  • Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the veterinarian or management.
  • Perform intakes on new animals, which involves giving shots, weighing, and administering medicines as needed. Must have some math skills to mix dosages.
  • Support pet owners by answering questions and providing information about services offered at the facility.
  • Help maintain inventory of supplies needed for animal care.
  • Collaborate with team members to create a safe and welcoming environment for both pets and their owners.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant, Kennel Technician, or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques is preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
  • Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting animals when necessary.
  • A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is required. The dogs depend on their handlers and we need people we can depend on.
