Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting director with the management of social services programs aimed at assisting clients, families or groups with bio psychosocial needs through planning and development, program implementation and evaluation. Supervises and directs the work of social workers, caseworkers and interns in formulating and carrying out treatment plans or specialized services assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plans and directs the social services programs, performs a variety of administrative duties associated with management and evaluates program operations;
  2. Provide comprehensive case management of complex, medical and/or behavioral health cases to include assessments, case planning, case plan implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
  3. Responsible for the departments caseload management system to include intake and related case assignments;
  4. Responsible for day-to-day operations such as coordinating staff meetings, attend relevant meetings, and prepare department schedules etc.;
  5. Coordinate with tribal, federal, state and local agencies for purposes of networking, collaborating and resource gathering;
  6. Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling to clients and families;
  7. Provide oversight and review of cases to determine client needs, compliance and progress;
  8. Serve as advocate between clients and schools, healthcare system, legal system, public assistance programs, and other social services agencies;
  9. Serve as a resource through consultations, staffing and training with other departments such as ASAP, Tribal Court, Empowerment etc;
  10. Coordinate efforts of Tribal Interdisciplinary child protection team;
  11. Conduct case record review using specific indicators and criteria set forth by Social Services Department policy and regulating agencies;
  12. Conduct community trainings and presentations;
  13. Facilitate psychoeducation and support groups;
  14. Participate in professional development trainings;
  15. Assist in community service events and Emergency Preparedness;
  16. Respond to 24-hour emergency calls as assigned;
  17. Provide updates on day-to-day activities and cases to Director of Social Services;
  18. Other position related duties as required and assigned;
Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Masters in Social Work plus 3 years of experience in Child Welfare, Social Services and/or in related field; current licensure by the Texas Board of Social Worker Examiners; must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and be insurable; Bilingual-English/Spanish; must be able to successfully pass a post-offer drug screen and criminal history background check; ability to travel overnight (approximate 25%.); must be able to work flexible hours as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of social work values, principles, techniques and practices and their application to casework, group work, and community needs; must be able to function as a member of an interdisciplinary group; must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office. effective and efficient utilization of resources; Excellent communication and listening skills. Must have good facilitation skills. Must be able to handle multiple priorities effectively. Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations. Must be able to communicate effectively with local, state and federal agencies. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately; Must have an understanding of the Tribal culture, practices and traditional form of government. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from client or Tribal Council. Attributes include diplomacy and professionalism.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hand and arms. The employee may be required to lift up to 40 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision and ability to adjust focus.
