KIDS CLUB JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: Site Director

Department: Kids Club - Lakeview Elementary School

Job Category: Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

Monday - Friday: 2:30PM - 6:00PM

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Site Director is responsible for making sure the Kids Club procedures and requirements, detailed in the staff handbook, are being executed. Responsible for the supervision, safety, and well-being of the children. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of participants and facilitates peer-to-peer connections as part of the overall Kids Club experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervises staff and children.
  2. Follow all protocols as outlined in the staff handbook.
  3. Make sure all staff follow state regulations as outlined in the Staff Handbook and Orientation.
  4. Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values. These must 
  5. include: SEL, Arts & Crafts, STEM, Sports & Games, and Literacy.
  6. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness.
  7. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and 
  8. emergencies.
  9. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children, and staff. Be a role model for
  10. relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  11. Make sure weekly planners are completed 2 weeks in advance and are followed by staff.
  12. Take daily attendance and follow "Missing Child Procedure".
  13. Check mail at YMCA at least once per week.
  14. Report staff absences and/or tardiness to the Program Director immediately. 
  15. Coach support staff to become stronger counselors by modeling techniques for group management and activity facilitation.
  16. Complete Behavior Slips as needed and communicate them with the parents the day that they are administered.
Qualifications

QUALITIES:

  • Enthusiastic, Responsible, Dependable, Consistent, Level-Headed, Flexible, and Calm in all situations.
  • Ability to help children grow in character, experiences, and insights.
  •  Ability to always guard the health and well-being of children.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. College credits in education, recreation, or a related field.
  2. Previous experience working with children preferably in an after-school setting.
  3. At least 21 years of age
