POSITION

Inline Services, LLC is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer – Drafting to join our engineering and product development team in Tomball, TX. In this role, you will generate precise 2D and 3D CAD models, detailed fabrication drawings, and supporting technical documentation for mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. Responsibilities include ensuring design accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal specifications.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of mechanical design and drafting experience, a strong understanding of GD&T principles, and proficiency with modern CAD software. This position requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to develop robust, production-ready designs in a dynamic, project-driven environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D mechanical models and drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and complete drawing packages to support production and procurement.
  • Collaborate with project engineers, manufacturing, and fabrication teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
  • Perform design revisions and engineering change updates based on feedback, field modifications, or customer requirements.
  • Support mechanical design calculations, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and fitment verification.
  • Maintain organized and accurate drawing files, revision history, and configuration control in accordance with company standards.
  • Assist in the development of technical manuals, assembly instructions, and installation documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable industry codes, standards, and internal engineering procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Interface with vendors and suppliers to confirm manufacturability, material selection, and cost optimization.
  • Support prototype builds and testing activities, ensuring alignment between design intent and performance outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required).
  • 2–5 years of drafting/design experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial environment (preferred).
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, mechanical design principles, and fabrication processes (machining, welding, assembly).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in pipeline equipment, pressure vessels, machined components, or industrial systems.
  • Familiarity with ASME, API, or ISO standards.
  • Exposure to ERP systems and document management tools.
  • Basic understanding of finite element analysis (FEA) or stress analysis methods.
