Overview

The Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in various healthcare settings. This position involves assisting patients with daily activities, monitoring their health, and ensuring their comfort and safety. Nursing Assistants work closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver compassionate care to patients, including those in critical, long-term, and acute care environments.

Duties

  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Provide support for patients with mobility challenges using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Assist in the administration of medications as directed by nursing staff.
  • Document patient care activities accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems or electronic health records (EHR).
  • Support patients with specific needs including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families during difficult times.

Skills

Candidates for the Nursing Assistant position should possess a variety of skills that enhance patient care:

  • Experience in critical care, long-term care, assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and documentation practices.
  • Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Familiarity with phlebotomy techniques and basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred.
  • Understanding of anatomy and physiology related to patient care needs.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health issues.
  • Experience in geriatrics, pediatrics, hospice care, urgent care, or outpatient clinic settings is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills to interact compassionately with patients and families while maintaining HIPAA compliance. This role is essential for delivering comprehensive patient-centered care across various healthcare environments while fostering a supportive atmosphere for both patients and their families.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $25.50 per hour

Expected hours: 4 – 5 per week
