Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the logistics of freight transportation, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining strong relationships with clients and carriers. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of supply chain management and transportation processes, along with excellent negotiation skills to facilitate contracts and pricing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and carriers to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
  • Manage all aspects of freight brokerage, including pricing, contracts, and logistics planning.
  • Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to track shipments and manage data entry efficiently.
  • Conduct lead generation activities to expand the customer base and increase sales opportunities.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers while ensuring compliance with FDA regulations and other industry standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline operations and improve service offerings.
  • Provide exceptional customer relationship management through regular follow-ups and updates on shipment status.
  • Handle inside sales activities, including prospecting new clients and managing accounts effectively.
  • Utilize CRM software to maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activities.

Experience

  • Proven experience in freight brokerage or a related field such as logistics or transportation management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with supply chain processes, 3PL (third-party logistics), NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carrier), and transportation planning is highly desirable.
  • Strong skills in B2B sales, account management, and sales management are essential for success in this role.
  • Proficiency in using EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) systems, AS400 software, and other relevant tools is a plus.
  • Excellent negotiation skills combined with a solid understanding of contracts related to freight services.
