About Us:

Sterling Pump Systems designs and builds high-performance commercial and industrial vacuum pump systems used across industries worldwide. With an in-house machine and fabrication shop, we pride ourselves on top-quality craftsmanship, innovation, and fast turnaround times.

Position Overview:

We're looking for a CAD Designer with experience in mechanical or industrial design to help bring our custom systems to life. This role involves creating detailed mechanical drawings, system layouts, and fabrication blueprints for vacuum pump systems and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and revise 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and assembly technicians to ensure accurate designs
  • Prepare documentation, including bills of materials and assembly instructions
  • Review and improve existing designs for performance, manufacturability, and efficiency
  • Maintain organized project files and drawing archives
  • Provide input during design reviews to ensure product quality and accuracy

Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD design (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent required)
  • Background in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing design preferred
  • Understanding of mechanical components, piping layouts, and assembly drawings
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills

Schedule:

  • Flexible — part-time or full-time availability considered
  • On-site position preferred (Highland, MI)
