Overview

A well-established closed-door long-term care (LTC) pharmacy in Santa Rosa, California, is seeking a motivated and highly skilled Full-Time LTC Pharmacist to join our dedicated team. This position offers an excellent benefits package and a consistent schedule, averaging 30-32 hours per week.

Our pharmacy primarily services assisted living facilities throughout the greater Bay Area. The role is focused heavily on dispensing-related duties and ensuring accurate medication delivery to our residents.

  • Position Type: Full-Time, Benefited
  • Schedule: Approximately 30-32 hours per week. Must be available to work a 6 or 8-hour shift Monday through Friday up to 7:30 PM. Includes a rotating Saturday shift.
  • Setting: Closed-Door Long Term Care Pharmacy (No retail/public interaction)

Primary Responsibilities

The Pharmacist will be responsible for the professional and compliant operation of the pharmacy during scheduled shifts, with a primary focus on dispensing accuracy and quality control. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing, interpreting, and processing medication orders (new, refill, and stop) from assisted living facilities.
  • Overseeing and directing pharmacy technicians to ensure the accurate and timely preparation and dispensing of medications.
  • Performing final checks on all dispensed medications to verify accuracy, dosage, and labeling.
  • Identifying and resolving potential drug therapy problems (DTPs) and communicating with prescribers or facility staff as needed.
  • Maintaining strict compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, rules, and regulations, with a strong focus on LTC-specific compliance.
  • Assisting in inventory management and control.

Note: This position does NOT involve sterile compounding (IV infusion) or administering vaccinations.

Qualifications

  • License: Must possess a current and active California Pharmacist License in good standing.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a long-term care, closed-door, or high-volume dispensing environment is highly preferred.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and effective communication abilities are essential.
  • Availability: Must be able to reliably work the required shifts up to 7:30 PM, including rotating Saturdays.
