*Description Of Work*
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Training Specialist to lead and manage all aspects of training for certified and non-certified staff. This position plays a critical role in ensuring staff understand, follow, and remain compliant with all agency policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is organized, knowledgeable, and skilled in delivering instructional information. The training specialist will enter OSDT training records into the designated system and maintain all training files in accordance with applicable policies.

Salary Range: $39, $69,429.00
The office location for this position is at the Randall Building.
Overnight travel may be required when training staff statewide at various locations, including training sites and prisons
- This position promotes and supports the Offender Population Unified System (OPUS) by providing field staff the tools necessary to meet day-to-day operations of the Division of Institutions-Prisons.
- Due to the complexity of OPUS, this position is responsible for developing and managing large integrated software systems, developing training programs, promoting open communication, teamwork, and positive acceptance of change.
- Demonstrated skills to establish and maintain effective communication with instructors, students, and supervisors to formulate ideas and communicate in verbal and written form.
- This position will structure and design materials to be utilized in training classes about all aspects of the OPUS system.
- Training will focus on the understanding of correct documentation and how to properly navigate integrated processes crossing functional sections in both mainframe and web-based applications.
- Position ensures training offered is designed to promote various computer applications and the need to understand and communicate the demand for accuracy in this technical environment.
- This position assists Prison's OPUS Helpdesk by providing phone support to troubleshoot mainframe, web applications and hardware related issues, serves as a Division Site Security Administrator for staff at all correctional facilities/prisons, region offices, maintenance yards and private substance abuse centers, participates in the research and implementation of OPUS enhancements and revisions to evaluate the future needs of the Division of Institutions-Prisons.
Management Preferences
- Demonstrated expertise to (plan, deliver, prioritize, coordinate, monitor and implement specific assignments) implement a multi-course program of instruction.
- Proven experience in coordinating logistics to implement a program of instruction at training sites.
- Demonstrated skills to operate computerized audio/visual equipment using different software applications.

. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase/decrease MAY result.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement.

Bachelor's degree
and
one year of experience in a criminal justice or training-related field;
-OR-
High school or General Educational Development (GED)
diploma and
five years of experience in a criminal justice or training-related field;

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

May require General Instructor Certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
