We are looking for a Material Handler to join our team onsite in Bay Minette, AL

The primary role of the LG1 Material Handler will be to load, unload, move and store materials utilizing the fork truck and overhead cranes daily within the plant. This position will be responsible for packaging and unpacking all shipments and have some level of inventory control status tasks to complete as the materials move in and out of the storage areas.

Position Responsibilities:

Material Handling

• Operate the fork truck and overhead cranes to load, unload, move and store materials.
• Use proper rigging and lifting techniques to move material safely throughout the facility.
• Identify materials according to the pick list.
• Stage materials in various workstations.
• Maintain storage areas organization for efficient material movement.
• Maintain and clean storage areas daily.
• Empty and weigh material scrap hoppers daily.
• Conduct pre-shift inspections of material handling equipment, report all issues to maintenance.
• Transport local deliveries to vendor and customer locations as needed.

Inventory Control

• Assist team with proper material sign-outs in the ERP system.
• Assist production team in performing inventory cycle count audits daily, quarterly and annually.
• Ensure proper labeling of materials received before placement in respective yard and storage areas.
• Ensure all scrap material is stored in designated location.

Shipping and Receiving

• Verify the accuracy of quantity and quality of incoming deliveries to Bills of Lading and submit all documentation to LG 3 Material Handler.
• Prepare and package product shipments (domestic and international) matching customer requirements.
• Verify with Quality Control department on shipment readiness.
• Notify LG 2/3 Material Handler of outgoing material.

Any other duties as needed.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of equivalent work experience in material handling, shipping and receiving.
• Updated driver's license and clear driving record.
• Detail orientation related proper material identification and accuracy of inventory counts and stock levels.
• Inventory control experience required
• Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safety programs.
• Manufacturing knowledge.
• Print Reading/Bill of Material knowledge.
• Prior driver and delivery experience.
• Prior fork truck, rigging and overhead crane experience.

Skills:

• Self-starter with the initiative and innovative problem-solving skills to improve work processes.
• Sense of urgency and time management skills related to movement of materials.
• Updated driver's license and clear driving record.
• Use of effective verbal and written communication skills with various departments.
• Capable of operating other plant machinery, radial arm saw, nail gun, etc.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

• Frequently uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms to operate material handling equipment and cranes
• Occasionally climb stairs and ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and twist
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
• Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours per day
• Frequently use close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and adjust focus vision
• Frequently talks or hears and be exposed to occupational noise
• Prolonged daily standing and walking on concrete, uneven, slippery and gravel surfaces
• Wear daily appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including respirator
