Job Description

The Full Time Assistant Director, Field
Education is responsible for student
placement development and agency recruitment.  S/he manages and advises students in agency
placements.  S/he supervises assigned
adjunct faculty who are student advisors. S/he provides a variety of
administrative tasks to assist in the development and operations of the Field
Placement Department. S/he assists the Assistant Dean, Field Education in the
organization, development, and implementation of the Placement Management
Process.

SSW
student body consists of 650 MSW students. Field Education Department is comprised of
the Assistant Dean, Field Education, six Assistant Director, Field Education,
and Field Education Program Assistant.

Essential
Functions include:

Domestic and International Placement Management:
* Recruits agencies for
placements
   - Identify potential agencies
   - Telephone contact to agencies
   - Complete a site visit
   - Complete agency evaluation
paperwork
   - Input new agencies into
Placement Data File
   - Support and monitor agencies
* Collects and files advisor
reports and placement meeting reports
* Participates in Placement
Management Meetings
* Assists the field team in the
placement of students
   - Participate in Placement Forum
(orientation meeting) for Clinical Students
   - Review student applications
   - Interview assigned students
   - Write up Placement Interview
Summary
   - Participate in weekly
Placement Meetings
   - Communicate with agencies to
set up student interviews
   - Follow up on student/agency
interviews to confirm placement
   - Submit appropriate paperwork
to establish placement assignment

Domestic and International Student Advising:
* Provides course and field
advising to 15 students
* Contacts students and agencies
in September
* Collects Learning Contracts in
October
* Meets with students monthly
and as needed
* Visits Agencies at least once
each semester and additional times as needed
* Reviews student performance
each semester and submit grades
* Attends monthly Faculty
Advisor meetings
* Participates in managing
student problems as needed
* Submits Student Professional
Reports at the end of Spring Semester

Supervision of Student Advisors:
* Orients and train advisors
* Provides support and consultation
on a needed basis
* Monitors performance of
Student Advisors
* Provides consultation to
Student Advisors on placement problems
* Participates in Placement
Management Meetings when appropriate

Management of Summer Block Placement Program:
* Organizes the
Summer Block placements and field seminar
* Participates in
Student Orientation
* Participates in Summer Field
Seminars
* Serves as the Student Advisor
to 8 to 15 students

Special Projects:
* Performs special projects as
assigned by the Assistant Dean, Field Education

Resource and Referral:
* Provide program coverage one
day/week to respond to student and agency request for help and information

Some
local domestic and international travel required.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $65,550 to $81,950; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

* Master
of Social Work degree required
*
At least three years of professional experience required
*
Strong organizational and communications skills required 
*
Experience with issues related to placement of students in agencies required
*
Proficiency with MS Office suite required
*
Familiarity with databases (Apex preferred) required
*
Ability to follow-through on tasks independently required
*
Ability to function as part of a team required
*
Some supervisory experience preferred
