Job Summary:

The Banquet Bar Captain is responsible for supervising and leading the bar operations during banquet and special events. This role involves ensuring exceptional guest experiences through effective beverage service, team coordination, and adherence to all company and regulatory standards. The Banquet Bar Captain oversees the bar staff, maintains bar inventory, and contributes to the overall success of the banquet and catering department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Beverage Service:
    • Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests during banquets and events.
    • Ensure the quality and consistency of drinks, adhering to recipes and portion control.
    • Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, taking drink orders and providing recommendations as needed.
    • Handle any guest concerns or issues related to the bar service promptly and with a customer-centric approach.
  2. Team Supervision:
    • Lead and motivate the bar staff, ensuring a high level of professionalism and guest satisfaction.
    • Schedule and assign tasks to bar staff, including bartenders and barbacks.
    • Train and mentor new team members, ensuring they understand company standards and safety procedures.
  3. Inventory Management:
    • Monitor and maintain adequate levels of bar supplies, including liquor, mixers, glassware, and other bar essentials.
    • Perform regular inventory checks and assist in placing orders to restock inventory as needed.
    • Handle the storage and rotation of alcohol and supplies in accordance with relevant regulations.
  1. Quality Control:
    • Ensure that all beverages are prepared to the highest quality standards and in a timely manner.
    • Monitor cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including workstations, equipment, and barware.
    • Assist in creating and implementing new drink menus and specials.
  2. Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to all local, state, and federal alcohol service regulations.
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by following sanitation and safety protocols.
    • Report any safety or maintenance issues to the Banquet Manager.
  3. Communication:
    • Collaborate with the Banquet Manager, catering team, and kitchen staff to ensure seamless coordination during events.
    • Communicate effectively with guests to ensure their beverage preferences and dietary needs are met.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a bartender or bar captain in a banquet or high-volume event setting.
  • Strong knowledge of drink recipes, mixology, and beverage service.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Basic knowledge of safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Certification in responsible alcohol service (if required by local regulations).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry heavy objects (cases of liquor, kegs, etc.).
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Banquet and event hours, including evenings and weekends.
