Duties

  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately to process customer transactions, including cash handling, credit card payments, and returns
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product selections
  • Conduct product demos when applicable to showcase features and benefits to customers
  • Upsell relevant products or services to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales opportunities
  • Maintain merchandising standards by organizing displays, stocking shelves, and ensuring products are well-presented
  • Assist with inventory management through stock replenishment and inventory counts
  • Enforce phone etiquette standards when handling inquiries or assisting customers over the phone
  • Support grocery store operations by adhering to safety protocols, maintaining cleanliness, and following store policies

Requirements

  • Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering preferred; supervisory experience is a plus for leadership opportunities
  • Proficiency with POS systems and basic math skills for accurate cash handling and transaction processing
  • Strong communication skills in both verbal and written forms; bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer bases
  • Ability to perform retail math calculations quickly for pricing, discounts, and totals
  • Knowledge of grocery store operations including stocking, merchandising, and product demos
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and patience in high-pressure situations
  • Demonstrated phone etiquette when interacting with customers over the phone or in person
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
