Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team at The Healthcare Resort of Kansas City. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive therapy services to diverse patient populations, including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities. This role involves developing personalized care plans, assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), and supporting recovery and independence across various settings such as inpatient facilities, outpatient clinics, schools, and home health environments. The Occupational Therapist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote optimal patient outcomes and enhance quality of life.

Duties

  • Assess patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs through detailed evaluations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's goals and medical conditions.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Provide therapy interventions for specific populations such as children with autism or those in early intervention programs.
  • Participate in discharge planning and case management to ensure seamless transition between care settings.
  • Collaborate with physicians, speech therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Educate patients and families on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety measures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Support occupational health initiatives in workplace settings or clinics as needed.
  • Stay current with advances in occupational therapy practices, medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and relevant regulations.

Requirements

  • Valid state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Prior experience in acute care, inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, post-acute care, home health, outpatient clinics, or school environments preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics (specializing in early intervention and school-based therapy), geriatrics (including geriatrics care plans), individuals with autism or disabilities.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology relevant to occupational therapy practices.
  • Strong case management skills with the ability to develop effective care plans and discharge strategies.
  • Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to supporting recovery and independence.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across various healthcare settings such as LTC and Skilled Rehab experience or outpatient clinics.
  • Proficiency in working with patients requiring assistance with ADLs and functional mobility tasks.
  • Good communication skills for patient education and collaboration with healthcare providers.
