Chief Financial Officer: Government Contracting

We are seeking a Government Contracting CFO

Arena is a Work Anywhere at Anytime company. We are CFO services simplified for businesses across the United States offering fractional CFO services. Arena enables any business to get the payment and financial expertise they need to thrive. Typical client engagements are between 10-40 hours per month with the ability to take on multiple clients. Arena CFOs will work directly with businesses in building their financial forecast, growth strategy and assisting with specialized needs like raising capital, defining cap tables, expansion/acquisitions and exit strategies. Arena CFOs oversee all aspects of financial management for the business including management and oversight of the controller and accounting teams, fundraising and operations. The candidate must be able to foresee market trends and safeguard business interests. This candidate will be a thought leader for the organization and aid in driving business strategy alongside the executive team and Board of Directors where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Develops financial forecasts for each business they serve
• Manages financials on a monthly basis and measures key metrics like actuals vs. forecast, profit margin, NIM, cost of capital and others based on the businesses needs
• Government Contracting Compliance Ensure full compliance with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA standards.
• Oversee indirect rate structures, pricing models, and cost accounting systems tailored for government contracts.
• Support proposal development and pricing strategies for RFPs, IDIQs, and task orders.
• Manage audit preparation and responses for federal and state agencies.Works with key leaders at the business, tax experts and other critical stakeholders
• Consistently looks forward in examining the businesses cash position, capital needs and evaluates options for any needed funding
• Implements process and financial solutions that meet the needs of the business
• Evaluates vendor contracts and proposed modifications as needed
• Provides input to pricing and customer agreements
• Prepares financials for long term vision and potential exits
• Sources insights from broader economic data and peer analysis
• Evaluate and optimize ERP, timekeeping, and project accounting systems (e.g., Unanet, Deltek, QuickBooks Enterprise).

Skills

• Proven experience as GovCon CFO, finance officer or relevant role
• Government Contracting Compliance: FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA standards.
• Indirect rate structures, pricing models, and cost accounting systems tailored for government contracts.
• Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
• Proficient in Unanet, Deltek, QuickBooks Enterprise a plus
• Experience with financial planning and strategy development
• Quality leadership, communication and management skills
• Exceptional problem solving and influencing skills
• Financial planning and analysis software experience
• Ability to strategize and solve problems
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers
• BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; CPA, CFA, MS/MBA is a plus
• Clearance a plus

Arena is a Work Anywhere at Anytime company. Arena CFOs can work as little as 4 hours/month up to full time. Training is provided and access to all of the needed tools for each client. CFOs are paid monthly for their time at a rate commensurate with their experience and industry expertise. All CFOs must pass a financial case study, job fit interview and background check. Once onboarded each CFO is paired with a CFO mentor and their work is reviewed for the first 3 cycles with their mentor during this probationary period.
