Supervisor: Director of Music

Hours: Approximately 5-7 hours per week, 44 weeks per year

Salary: $12,000

About the Position: The Associate Director of Modern Worship is a member of the staff and ministry team of First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, ministering to music ministry participants and the congregation through a varied and exciting program of musical offerings each week. The Associate Director of Modern Worship serves as primary worship leader for the modern worship service, selecting appropriate music, leading a weekly rehearsal with Praise Band and recruiting members to participate.

Qualifications

· Academic training in music performance is preferred.

  • Demonstrated proficiency:
  • in leading a congregation vocally
  • in playing the guitar
  • in selecting appropriate worship music
  • in leading effective rehearsals
  • Good organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent relationship skills, especially in being able to work effectively with church staff, music volunteers and congregation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the music staff and pastoral staff to program music for each scheduled worship service:
  • Collaborate with the Director of Music and pastors in worship planning.
  • Recruit and schedule vocalists and instrumentalists.
  • Communicate music planned well in advance of the service to the Director of Music and praise band.
  • Lead Sunday morning Praise Band rehearsals (8:15 am)
  • Lead singer and guitarist for worships services.
  • Work with instrumentalist and soloists as needed.
  • Integrate into the "church family."
  • Be willing to work with children and youth and be friendly and engaging with them.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12,000.00 per year
