Position Summary

Telcom, Inc. is seeking a Fiber Locator to join our growing team in Columbia, SC. This full-time role is responsible for locating, identifying, and documenting underground and aerial fiber optic infrastructure to support construction, maintenance, and service projects. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and interested in building a long-term career in the telecommunications and low-voltage industry.

A company vehicle is provided, and this role offers future job opportunities and career advancement within Telcom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Locate and mark underground and aerial fiber optic lines using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Interpret utility maps, drawings, and work orders to accurately identify fiber routes
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams, contractors, and project managers
  • Document findings accurately, including photos, notes, and reports as required
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies while working in the field
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in safe working condition
  • Represent Telcom professionally at job sites and with customers
Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record
  • No at-fault accidents within the past 24 months
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to read maps and basic construction drawings
  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated

Previous experience in fiber locating, utility locating, telecommunications, or low-voltage work is a plus, but not required for the right candidate.
