Staff Accountant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Staff Accountant. Reporting to our Controller, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for various accounting tasks, including bookkeeping, financial analysis, and tax-related activities. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a strong background in Excel, bookkeeping, and tax knowledge. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification, or a candidate pursuing a CPA, is preferred, but is not required.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including journal entries, accounts receivable and payable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights and recommendations to support decision making processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and provide support for budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Monitor and reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial records.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of supporting schedules and financial statements.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting and tax regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and standards.
- Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience of at least 3 years working as an Accountant or in a similar role.
- Strong proficiency in NetSuite.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and formulas.
- Prior experience with bank and credit card account reconciliation.
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Familiarity with tax regulations and experience in tax-related activities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems is a plus.
