Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Culinary Consultant / Kitchen Training Specialist to work with our chef and kitchen staff in an assisted living setting. This role focuses on hands-on training, improving meal quality, consistency, and presentation, and ensuring meals are appropriate and easy to eat for senior residents.

The ideal candidate has experience in senior living, assisted living, skilled nursing, or healthcare foodservice and understands how to prepare meals that are safe, comfortable to eat, visually appealing, and tailored to resident needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train chef and kitchen staff on preparing senior-appropriate, easy-to-eat meals
  • Improve texture, tenderness, moisture, and overall quality of meals
  • Ensure meals meet dietary needs, allergies, and special diet requirements
  • Standardize recipes and cooking techniques (slow cooking, braising, shredding, portioning)
  • Improve presentation and plating so meals are more appetizing and consistent
  • Observe current kitchen practices and provide practical improvement recommendations
  • Help establish and maintain meal quality standards across all shifts

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as one or more of the following:
  • Culinary Consultant (senior living or healthcare preferred)
  • Executive Chef with senior living / healthcare experience
  • Dining Services Consultant
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Senior-appropriate meal preparation
  • Special diets, allergies, and dietary accommodations
  • Ability to train, coach, and support kitchen staff in a collaborative manner
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Familiarity with assisted living or healthcare environments is a plus
