Freelance GIS Developer – Empower Local Businesses with Geospatial Insight (Los Angeles, CA)

Are you a mid-level GIS Developer with a passion for using spatial technology to make a real difference? We're looking for a collaborative, freelance GIS Developer who wants to help small businesses in Los Angeles grow and thrive through smart, map-based solutions.

What You'll Work On:

  • Build and enhance web-based mapping tools using Google Maps Platform APIs, Leaflet, or similar frameworks.
  • Design and manage spatial databases using PostgreSQL/PostGIS or equivalent.
  • Integrate and visualize spatial data (GeoJSON, KML, shapefiles) to support small business operations and decision-making.
  • Collaborate on geospatial analysis and storytelling to highlight local trends and opportunities.
  • Support map data management using QGIS, ArcGIS Online, or Esri REST APIs.

What You Bring:

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, and SQL.
  • Experience with geospatial web development and spatial data workflows.
  • A collaborative mindset and interest in working with entrepreneurs and community-focused teams.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with local LA geography and small business ecosystems.
