Your role at Clorox:

Fragrance plays a vital role across Clorox business units.
As a Senior Scientist in Fragrance Innovation, your role will be to bring thought leadership and influence on the fragrance choices on projects and the development of consumer preferred fragrances across multiple product categories. You will be the liaison with fragrance suppliers, and will provide fragrance expertise to project teams through deep knowledge of fragrance trends, influencing the direction and choices internally and externally.

This position is based in Pleasanton, CA with an expected in-office presence of at least three days per week.

In this role, you will:

Lead fragrance briefing for assigned projects, focused on Cleaning but will be across multiple BUs.   

• Guide perfumer scent direction

• Selection and debriefing suppliers  

• Influence fragrance direction and strategy for projects across multiple cross functional team members (R&D, Marketing, Sales)

• Deliver consumer preferred fragrances compared to competition and existing Clorox products measured through consumer testing

Build Strong Partnerships with the fragrance suppliers

• Participate in monthly supplier calls to collaborate on projects

• Participate in live evaluation sessions to align on olfactive preferences

• Able to successfully apply technology across Clorox categories to create product wins

• Contribute to evaluation of fragrance suppliers and implementation of core list contracts

• Facilitate trainings between the fragrance houses and Clorox teammates

Lead fragrance trends for assigned projects

• Leverage trends to influence decision making and directional development on project teams

• Share emerging trends with appropriate BUs   

What we look for:

Years and Type of Experience:

• Minimum: 4+ years as a product developer in consumer product goods companies.  Fragrance development experience preferred.  

• Desirable: 6+ years as a product developer or fragrance developer in consumer product goods.

Skills and Abilities

• Product/Fragrance development experience, must be able to manage a large number of projects at once, balancing which ones require deeper attention and which ones don't at all times.

• Strong internal motivation, robust planning of technical and cross functional teams, critical thinking, problem solving under unique constraints, able to work independently, patient

• Bachelors in appropriate field or time in applicable role after college

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $106,700 - $204,900

–Zone B: $97,800 - $187,900

–Zone C: $88,900 - $170,800
