POSITION SUMMARY:
This role involves working with both walk-in and existing Hancock Lumber customers, providing expert guidance on Marvin showroom products, and supporting sales efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage with walk-in and scheduled customers to understand project needs and recommend appropriate window solutions.
- Attain and maintain expert-level product knowledge of all showroom offerings.
- Generate sales through in-showroom consultations and off-site customer engagement.
- Follow up on leads and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Present services and products to contractors and general contractors both on and off site.
- Take accurate field measurements and ensure precision in all orders.
- Prepare Sales Agreements, Purchase Orders, Change Orders, and Project Specifications in accordance with company guidelines.
- Maintain ongoing communication with contractors and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Inspect completed projects to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors and industry professionals.
- Collaborate with team members to support group sales efforts.
- Handle customer complaints and field service issues professionally.
- Participate in ongoing self-improvement through trade journals, training, and industry events.
- Work and collaborate with the Window Services team, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support team and company goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Basic understanding of design principles and customer service excellence.
- Ability to sell independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in site measurement and layout design.
- Knowledge of window installation basics and millwork terminology.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Comfortable handling large sales transactions.
- Strong computer skills for order entry, inventory management, and communication.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED / Construction/Technical trade skills
- Experience with building materials, especially windows and millwork.
- Familiarity with construction estimating and blueprint reading is a plus.
REPETITIVE PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lift 60# from floor to waist; lift 40# from waist to shoulder.
- Carry 60# over a distance exceeding 12 feet.
- Push 60# in a wheeled cart.
- Bend, stoop, or squat to floor level repeatedly.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Sit for long periods of time.
- Reach overhead to grasp materials.
- Ability to travel to outside jobs sites and businesses.
