Work with the Engineering staff to support smart meter projects and smart home technology.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Work as an entry level engineering analyst doing tasks that support the tools, programs, and testing used to perform various operational tasks such as customer issue investigation, system administration, automated testing, and assist with lab operations. Through practical operations experience and mentoring, a successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence and people skills.

This position is for a June 1, 2026 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel Energy's business needs.

Minimum Requirements

• Enrolled in programs focused on Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering
• Current Student, Freshman or Higher
• Troubleshooting, communication, and independent work ethic
• May require monthly site visits to customer homes in Minnesota, Sporadic team travel for summits or conferences.

Preferred Skills

• Familiar with consumer smart home systems.
• Familiarity with computer networking, git, open-source software, and hypervisors

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $17.00 to $27.20 per hour
