Job Summary:

The Kitting Operator is responsible for preparing, assembling, and staging kits of materials, ingredients, or components needed for production runs. This role ensures that all kit contents meet quality, quantity, and accuracy requirements to support smooth production flow. The Kitting Operator is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining compliance with inventory control, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately pick, count, and assemble materials and components for production kits.
  • Verify kit contents against bills of materials (BOMs) or work orders.
  • Stage completed kits in designated production areas according to schedule.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of kitting activities and material usage.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure proper materials are included in each kit.
  • Follow GMP, food safety, and allergen control practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitting and staging areas.
  • Support warehouse and production teams with additional material handling as needed.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures related to safety, food safety, and quality standards, including GMPs, PPE requirements, and hazard reporting
  • Perform all other duties or tasks as assigned by management to support departmental or company objectives.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Kit Accuracy Rate: = 99% of kits prepared without errors or shortages
  • On-Time Kit Preparation: = 95% of kits staged before scheduled production runs
  • Inventory Accuracy: = 98% alignment between physical counts and system records
  • Material Waste Reduction: = 2% variance in issued vs. used materials
  • Safety & Compliance: Zero lost-time incidents; 100% adherence to GMPs and SOPs

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of experience in warehouse, inventory, or material handling preferred.
  • Familiarity with production environments or kitting processes a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic math and counting skills.
  • Ability to follow work instructions, BOMs, and schedules.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in warehouse/production environments
