Clinical Director

Heartland Recovery Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Director to lead our clinical team in providing high-quality care for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. The Clinical Director will oversee all aspects of clinical services within our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), ensuring the delivery of evidence-based treatment and adherence to regulatory standards. This leadership role requires a compassionate professional with strong managerial skills, a deep understanding of addiction treatment, and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in client care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all clinical operations, ensuring high-quality and evidence-based substance abuse treatment.
- Supervise clinical staff, including therapists and counselors, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures to align with state regulations and accreditation standards.
- Monitor client treatment progress and provide clinical oversight to ensure individualized and effective care plans.
- Conduct staff meetings, case consultations, and training sessions to enhance team collaboration and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality laws (HIPAA) and all state and federal guidelines governing substance abuse treatment.
- Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of clinical staff.
- Review and approve treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries to maintain documentation accuracy and compliance.
- Provide crisis intervention support and ensure appropriate referral to higher levels of care when necessary.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and other leadership staff to develop and implement strategic initiatives for program growth and improvement.
- Maintain relationships with external partners, including healthcare providers, referral sources, and regulatory agencies.
- Stay informed on emerging trends, research, and best practices in substance abuse treatment and integrate them into program development.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
- Valid, state-issued licensure (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).
- Certification in substance abuse counseling preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience in a clinical role, with at least two years in a leadership or supervisory position within a substance abuse or mental health setting.
- Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory compliance, including state licensure requirements and accreditation standards.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (Competencies):
- Advanced knowledge and practical experience in substance abuse treatment, including evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
- Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing, supervising, and mentoring clinical staff. Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork, build morale, and promote professional development.
- In-depth knowledge of the regulations governing substance abuse treatment facilities, including state and federal requirements, HIPAA, and accreditation standards.
- Ability to handle high-stress, high-risk situations effectively, providing calm, clear direction in emergencies or crises.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex clinical concepts to a variety of audiences, including staff, clients, families, and regulatory bodies.
- Expertise in conducting comprehensive assessments, diagnosing substance use disorders, and developing treatment plans that address the unique needs of each client.
- Sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultural backgrounds, and the ability to tailor clinical approaches to meet the specific needs of diverse populations.
- Strong commitment to maintaining ethical standards in clinical practice, ensuring that all interactions are professional, respectful, and in compliance with industry ethics.
- Ability to assess program effectiveness and make data-driven decisions that improve the quality of services and client outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including medical professionals, administrative staff, and external partners.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to address challenges and resolve issues that may arise in clinical operations or individual client care.
