About the job:

Kent is looking for a PLC Specialist to support our commissioning and start-up team at the Golden Pass LNG project in Port Arthur, TX.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

• Report to the I&C Commissioning Lead for scope assignments and planning.
• Lead field-level testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and associated systems.
• Interface directly with vendors and client automation teams to ensure accurate configuration, logic validation, and system integration.
• Support the download, configuration, and verification of PLC code and firmware, ensuring compliance with project documentation.
• Perform Cause & Effect, interlock, permissive, and sequence logic testing for system validation.
• Maintain and update redlines on PLC I/O drawings, control logic documentation, and termination diagrams.
• Assist in the commissioning of SCADA/HMI interfaces and ensure real-time data integrity from field instrumentation to control systems.
• Coordinate with electrical and instrumentation teams for loop checks, functional tests, and troubleshooting of I/O and communication paths.
• Ensure accurate punch list resolution and real-time updates to system completion databases.
• Perform and document FAT/SAT testing for PLC systems as required.
• Comply with all HSE and permit-to-work protocols in live construction and commissioning environments.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:

• Technical diploma in Instrumentation, Automation, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in PLC commissioning, startup, or automation systems integration.
• Expertise in Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or GE PLC platforms; familiarity with Honeywell or Emerson systems is a plus.
• Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Familiarity with SCADA and HMI systems such as Wonderware, FactoryTalk, or iFIX.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and software such as RSLogix, TIA Portal, and other PLC configuration tools.

Communication:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Team-oriented with the ability to lead tasks independently and mentor junior personnel.
