Job Description
The Principal Scientist - Quality Controls plays a crucial role in overseeing quality assurance practices throughout the organization, ensuring that materials are effectively managed from inception to production. They are responsible for maintaining and tracking key documentation and processes, including the bill of materials and work orders. This role involves advising on intellectual property matters and collaborating closely with various departments to enhance process validation and product quality. By working with both customers and internal teams, they drive improvements and refine specifications, contributing to the continuous enhancement of company products.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and advise on quality control efforts within the organization.
- Control internal documentation on the flow of materials through lifecycle stages? i.e. inception to production.
- Ownership and tracking of the bill of materials (BOM), and work order management.
- Provide guidance for intellectual property management.
- Collaborate with the Director of Process Chemistry and the Director of R&D Chemistry to validate the capability for processes and end products.
- Provide suggestions for potential solutions and/or alternative approaches to foster continuous improvement in company products.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to improve device-to-material correlations, driving specification refinement.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in organic chemistry or related field (or MS +10 years of industry experience).
- In-depth knowledge of GLP, CGMP, ISO 9001 standards, and quality control processes.
- Positive attitude and approachable demeanor.
- Previous experience creating and analyzing intellectual property positioning.
- Experience in chemical engineering within volume manufacturing within a relevant industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, specialty chemicals, agrochemicals).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills within and across departments and to company leadership.
- Deep understanding of reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer.
- A proactive and results-oriented mindset.
- In-depth knowledge of safety protocols (e.g., Process Safety Management) and regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP, ICH guidelines).
