We are seeking to immediately hire a full-time
Urban Planner
at
ONE Architecture & Urbanism
. This role is ideal for an urban planner who is passionate about climate resilience through design and is looking to join a firm where their entrepreneurial ideas are heard and acted upon. We are a lean team whose planning work is primarily focused on climate hazard research, designing mitigating capital projects, facilitating meaningful community engagement and curricula, and delivering actionable plans. You will also closely work with our teams that specialize in urban and infrastructure design, water management, masterplanning and strategy consulting.

As an Urban Planner, you will be an integral member of our practice. We expect everybody to bring ideas, critical insight, and initiative to support both your professional growth and ONE's mission. We are seeking a thoughtful collaborator who is committed to deepening ONE's expertise, tools, and market reach.

Planning and Project Management Responsibilities

  • Lead community and agency engagement logistics, scheduling, and documentation
  • Contribute to resilience curriculum development and related content creation
  • Contribute to neighborhood, demographic, and environmental justice research and analysis, and be an integral team member to strategy development and delivery
  • Support project development, client management, and deliverable production for initiatives such as resilience hubs, home weatherization, long-term coastal planning
  • Serve as the Assistant Project Manager on selection planning projects to assist with client coordination, day-to-day project communications; support preparation of meeting materials and communication tools; prepare and maintain program documentation, including summaries, reports, and internal trackers; support invoicing, budget monitoring, and burn rate tracking; coordinating across team members, partners, and consultants to ensure timely and smooth program delivery.

Business Development and Office Responsibilities

  • Identify and share opportunities to grow ONE's planning and community engagement practice
  • Contribute to proposal writing and production
  • Attend networking events, strengthen ONE's relationship with project partners and clients
  • Support internal and external event production and marketing campaigns

Additionally, you are expected to pursue professional growth through continued learning and certification, including working toward
AICP accreditation
, as applicable. The role also expects you to maintain and advance proficiency in
Adobe Suite (particularly InDesign) and ArcGIS
and related tools to support high-quality deliverables and communication materials.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $65,000 - $72,000 annual base salary
  • Discretionary bonus eligibility after one year

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in relevant field, preferably in City Planning ​
  • 1-3 years professional work experience, preferably in New York City​
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in community engagement, environmental justice, climate resilience ​
  • Flexible and entrepreneurial mindset​
  • Strong Adobe and ArcGIS skills are required ​
  • Spanish fluency is a plus
  • Work from the office on average four days a week
