Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Hourly Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, kitchen management, and team leadership. This role requires creativity in menu planning and the ability to maintain high standards of food safety and quality. The Hourly Chef will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences while managing kitchen operations efficiently.

Business Hours of Operations are Wednesday-Sunday 3pm-12am.

PURPOSE

The Hourly Chef is responsible for overseeing the daily kitchen operations for their specified cocktail division store. This position trains and oversees the kitchen staff while preparing and coordinating the preparation of food ordered by guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees hiring and training of kitchen staff.

  • Oversees schedules for kitchen staff including PTO.

  • Supervises work product from kitchen staff; delegates and ensures completion of daily tasks including bar preparation.

  • Assess kitchen staff performance on an ongoing basis and report any performance issues to the General Manager and CCO.

  • Assists General Manager with employment actions including discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

  • Execute the menu and maintain recipes provided by the CCO.

  • Ensures that food, presentation, and plating are of the highest quality and are prepared safely, efficiently, and according to specifications or request.

  • Assure adherence to all standards of food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation in conjunction with their specifications.

  • Ensures kitchen runs in accordance with all applicable health, safety, and hygiene codes and standards.

  • Manages food and labor costs to remain within set goals.

  • Maintains kitchen budget and is responsible for weekly inventory counting.

  • Oversees stocking, ordering, and purchasing of ingredients, ensuring that necessary ingredients are available and as fresh as possible while also minimizing spoilage and waste.

  • Maintains and inspects kitchen equipment, recommending repairs or replacements as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to produce an excellent culinary and restaurant experience for guests.

  • Ability to take direction and work collaboratively.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent time management, scheduling, managerial, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a variety of personalities and under pressure.

  • Understanding of financials and cost control.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  • Relevant experience or training, which may be demonstrated via degree or certificate,completion of apprenticeship, or other experience necessary to become trained as a highly skilled professional chef.

  • 2+ years of culinary managerial experience required.

  • Experience in training and development preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment: Job is typically performed in a restaurant kitchen environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $31.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
