Job Description:
As a Lead, Software Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced unmanned air systems (UAS / UAV). As a key data analyst systems engineer, you will develop data driven decision making solutions for complex unmanned systems, including primary platform subsystems and its payloads. Additionally, you will also be responsible for characterizing system hardware and software performance, identifying manufacturing issues through data analytics, and using data visualizations recommending path forward.

The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other technologies using small company agility and big company experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Architect and develop data analytics to provide data driven recommendations and solutions for manufacturing unmanned vehicles.

  • Identify data that needs to be collected.

  • Identify and ingest existing data.
  • Create easy to comprehend data visualizations to present to team and leadership.

  • Through data, identify trends in designing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting of issues in the manufacturing of unmanned vehicles.

  • Through data analytics, identify areas to enhance development speed and quality in a design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturability environment.
  • Be able to independently address or lead a small team to address technical issues that arise during production and implement solutions, through data analysis.
  • Communicate within and outside the organization to explain data and emerging trends and potential solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and training.
  • Work closely with program leadership to provide regular updates and discuss issue resolution.
  • Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for complex software projects.
  • Perform or provide inputs to trade studies to determine solutions and path forward
  • Make significant improvements to processes, systems, and products.
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary collaborative environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required.
  • Experience with MATLAB, and other programming skills to collect, analyze, and present data interpret large data sets.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Active DoD clearance with current 5-year update.
  • Minimum 7 years data analytics systems engineering experience in the execution of rapid learning cycles in requirements development, design, build, integration & test, verification & validation, fielding, and troubleshooting of complex systems.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Model Based System Engineering, the systems engineering "V", managing large data.
  • Experience with Python, R, SQL.
  • Experience with and an understanding of aerospace systems, especially in the development of integrated hardware/software products.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).
