Objective/Purpose

The Production Support Operator supports the Production Planning and Warehouse teams by handling materials, organizing inventory, and preparing products for shipment. This role is responsible for safe forklift operation, accurate recordkeeping, and maintaining an organized work area. By ensuring materials and finished goods move efficiently between departments, this position plays a vital part in keeping production and delivery schedules on track.

Principal Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to transport materials, products, and containers throughout the facility
  • Load, unload, and stage materials for machining, assembly, and shipping operations
  • Support packaging operations by assembling boxes, labeling, and preparing parts for shipment according to production plans
  • Verify part quantities, lot numbers, and labeling accuracy before shipment or storage
  • Maintain clear communication with the Production Planning team regarding material shortages, location changes, or delays
  • Keep packaging supplies stocked and organized (boxes, pallets, bands, labels, etc.)
  • Record incoming and outgoing material movements in logs or system trackers
  • Conduct daily forklift safety checks and report maintenance issues
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE guidelines, and 5S (organization/cleanliness) standards in work areas
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned by supervisors or management

Abilities and Qualifications

Required

  • Valid forklift certification and prior experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to operate safely in high-traffic production areas
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing repetitive tasks
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned shifts

Preferred

  • Experience with packaging, shipping, or inventory control in a production facility
  • Familiarity with material handling systems or barcoded inventory tracking
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
