Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm M-F

Position Summary: Hours: 

The Medical Assistant is a vital part of our organization. This position will be responsible for organizing and prioritizing daily workflow in order to maintain efficient patient flow throughout the office. The MA must be able to interact with physicians, receptionists, and ancillary services in a courteous and professional manner.

Position Accountabilities:

Maintain active medical assistant certification required from one of the following nationally-recognized organizations: NHA, NAHP, AAMA, AMT, NCPE, ARMA, NPS, NCCTPrepare and instruct patients for exams, perform procedures that include but are not limited to electrocardiograms, blood pressures, throat cultures, immunizations, dressing changes, suture removal, holter analysis, spirometry and other CLIA waived laboratory testsMaintain appropriate documentation of procedures in the electronic medical record; record reason for visit and other pertinent medical history while maintaining confidentialityAssist with the coordination of care with outside consultants for additional patient careAssure coding for all services providedFacilitate completion of prior authorizations and/or referrals to coordinate care with outside consultants for additional patient care or pharmacy requestAssist healthcare providers with exams and procedures, anticipating equipment and instruments required and necessaryMaintain cleanliness and organization of work area; keep exam rooms neat; change table paper and remove soiled linen after each examinationOrder supplies and medications/vaccines when neededMay screen and return phone calls for providers under their direction and supervisionObtain and maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support certificationProvide back up to other Medical Assistants in the areas of Adult Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics and Receptionist as neededAssist with service area procedures when necessaryWorking knowledge of Indexing Client and GE CentricityPerforms other duties as assignedMust be a great team player and work well in a team environment

Job Specifications:

Minimum Education

High School DiplomaComplete a certifiable Medical Assistant course or other approved trainingMaintenance of an active Medical Assistant certification required from a nationally recognized organization

Skills – Administrative

Requires multi-tasking and organizational skillsPhone and customer service skills
