Description:
Highland Middle School has an opening for a 1:1 Paraeducator for the remainder of the school year. It will start out as part-time, but may become a full time position. The pay rate is $19.93 per hour (ELS PARA or SUB) or $21.00 per hour with a PEL.  Benefits include: medical, dental and life insurance, 2 personal days, and 12 sick days. (Prorated to FTE and start date)

Qualifications:
Must possess current and valid ISBE licensure with a PEL, SUB or ELS-(PARA) Paraeducator, and be registered in Lake County.  PEL is preferred.

Behavioral Support:

  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed by the teacher or behavior specialist.
  • Support students in managing their behavior, emotions, and social interactions in various settings (classroom, recess, etc.).
  • Assist with de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention as needed.
  • Monitor and document student behavior, tracking progress and reporting to the appropriate staff.

Classroom Support:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to reinforce learning.
  • Assist in modifying instructional materials to meet the academic and behavioral needs of students.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with organizational tasks, following schedules, and completing assignments.
