POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Pharmacist Support Technician extends the reach of the pharmacist team by reviewing prescriptions, identifying issues, and making the initial call for clarifications in the data entry queues. Their role is to reduce errors, free up pharmacist time, and improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of MedQuest Pharmacy. In addition, they assist with various clerical tasks as identified by the CX pharmacist manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions

  • Communicates with the pharmacist teams as needed.

  • Contributes to patient safety and order accuracy by detecting and preventing prescription errors.

  • Retrieves, clarifies and transcribes prescription information from the prescriber or prescriber?s agent that does not require clinical judgment.

  • Utilizes patient medication history to identify/prevent dosing errors.

  • Tracks and monitors clarification trends from providers, including most common types of clarifications, and which prescribers require frequent clarification.

  • Manages the Pharmacist Desk (PD) File, which includes:

  • Calling providers to clarify missing or incomplete information

  • Entering activity notes,

  • Tracking next-day calls by organizing hard copies according to time zone.

  • Assists SureScripts and Fax data entry queues according to color-coded workflow status and follows established processes.

  • Enters new doses, pricing, and problem solves issues with existing formulas.

  • Communicates with the Products team for new commercial products.

  • Triages orders and routes messaging to the appropriate department as needed after order intake.

  • Performs administrative and support activities to free up pharmacist time to further optimize patient care.

  • Provides general back-up support for customer experience, fulfillment, and shipping as needed.
