HR Generalist | Grand Rapids, MI

Salary Range: $59,000 - $86,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for manufacturing and production roles.
  • Administer HR policies, procedures, and ensure compliance with labor laws and safety regulations.
  • Conduct employee relations investigations, mediate disputes, and manage disciplinary actions.
  • Support performance management processes, including reviews and development plans for plant personnel.
  • Facilitate mandatory safety training and other compliance-related training programs.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and manage HRIS data for the manufacturing workforce.
  • Assist with compensation and benefits administration and employee inquiries.
  • Collaborate with operations management on workforce planning and talent development initiatives.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience, with a significant portion in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state labor laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO) and HR-related OSHA requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, conflict resolution, and conducting thorough investigations.
  • Proven ability to recruit and onboard talent for diverse manufacturing roles, including production, maintenance, and skilled trades.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and standard HR software applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all levels of the organization.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles
  • Experience supporting a unionized workforce or with labor relations
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification
