ABOUTThis is an eleven-month administrative position that reports to the Department Chair, Child Development/Early Childhood, and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Center in accordance with the standards set forth by the Child Development/Early Childhood Department, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and the Association for Early Learning Leaders Accreditation (National Accreditation Commission). The Director will provide leadership and guidance to the center, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for the children to learn and grow.
WHAT YOU WILL DOESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain day-to-day operations in accordance with the Child Development/Early Childhood Department and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services – Child Care Minimum Standards
- Oversee all aspects of hiring and supervising the center's staff
- Oversee and monitor information and documentation necessary for the Association for Early Learning Leaders Accreditation process and standards of the National Accreditation Commission
- Schedule staff of the center to ensure adequate supervision of the children and organize/arrange for substitutes when necessary
- Oversee the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Recruit and maintain full enrollment at the Center according to enrollment policies
- Supervise the planning, preparation, and serving of nutritious meals and snacks for the Center and the general maintenance and cleaning of the facilities, including the playground
- Ensure the collection of appropriate fees from parents/ clients and maintain accurate records for parents and the College Accounting Department
- Assist the Child Development /Early Childhood Department Chair with the preparation of the Center's Annual Budget
- Maintain and oversee the center's calendar
- Submit monthly credit card usage report and required documentation to the Professional and Technical Programs' dean's office promptly
- Submitting employees' timesheets each month
- Ensure tuition and funds received are deposited to the TJC Business Services office promptly
- Procure and store materials necessary for the operations of the Center. Ensuring the budget is met and not exceeded. Follow all procedures required by TJC Business Services for center purchases.
- Promote the Center in the community
- Ensure parent involvement in the care and education of their children
- Provide leadership for the writing, publishing, and emailing of the center's newsletter, "Tidbits"
- Participate in professional development activities and professional organizations required by accreditation and licensing standards
Secondary Responsibilities
- May teach two college-level courses in the Child Development/ Early Childhood Department each semester, in accordance with the job description of a professor. (Master's Degree required)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Understanding of Texas Department of Health and Human Services Child Care Regulations, Association of Early Learning Leaders National Accreditation Standards, ProCare, Microsoft Office
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Supervision
Work Environment: Work is rarely required outside of normal business hours
Physical Demands: Sitting, walking, standing, lifting (occasionally up to 50 pounds), carrying, bending
Travel Required: Yes - Minimal
If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Child and Family Development or Early Childhood Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university
Required Experience
Three years of work experience in a licensed childcare center
Required Credentials/Licensures
Must have current certification in first aid and CPR for children
Must qualify for, and obtain a Director's Certificate that meets the requirements of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Child Care Minimum Standards
Preferred Education
Master's Degree with at least 18 credit hours in child development or early childhood education. If assigned CDEC courses, a Master's is required.
