Rowe Elementary/Middle School is a stand alone charter school, with a K-4 campus and a 5-8 campus, located within walking distance of each other.

All programs nurture, educate, and inspire so that families can take personal responsibility for their futures and attain self-sufficiency and reach aspirations. Alongside a rigorous curriculum, our school focuses on the SEL component of education in great detail, as well.

We are seeking teachers who are able to provide a rigorous learning environment for our scholars, helping them develop as individuals, as well as master the subjects they need to succeed. You will be responsible for developing lesson plans and then implementing those plans in the classroom, giving you the flexibility to tailor your lessons to both you and your scholars' interests and strengths-based on data. You will also be responsible for building relationships with scholars ensuring that you maintain a positive classroom culture where all scholars can learn and thrive. This can extend outside the classroom by assisting with coaching sports, family and community events, organization events, school clubs, and extracurricular activities. Strong Academic Attainment:

  • Create daily lesson plans that are engaging, educational and exciting for the scholars, encouraging them to want to come to school.
  • Teach scholars in a classroom setting, managing their work output in the classroom and behavior on a daily basis.
  • Deliver lesson plans in a way that catches the attention of the scholars and keeps them occupied and excited about learning.
  • Reach school and course-wide performance goals for every scholar.
  • Increase educational knowledge and stay up to date on new methods by joining professional organizations, attending continuing education courses and attending regular training sessions for teachers.
  • Weave goals, competencies, and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the scholar's life.
  • Develop teaching and learning materials for use in class, including lesson plans, exams and homework, homework and projects, and assignments that make use of all scholar skills.
  • Instruct scholars in one or more subjects using discussions, lectures, small group teaching, demonstrations and other instructional tools to improve their grasp on the subject matter.
  • Modify lesson plans and materials as needed to make them suitable for scholars' current learning levels.
  • Monitor and track scholar progress and issue grades.
  • Maintain relationships with parents and legal guardians of scholars in order to keep them informed of their scholars' academic progress.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators, including special education teachers and teacher's aids, to provide individualized support for each scholar on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with other teachers in order to share best practices and provide meaningful feedback regularly.
  • Ensure that scholars meet educational standards and school performance goals for their grade level.

Strong School Culture:

  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and necessary staff to establish and uphold curriculum, school mission statement/culture and performance goals, and standards.
  • Offer praise and encouragement to scholars when they do well and when they are struggling, and teach them that they have the power to do well in school no matter what.
  • Watch closely for scholars who are struggling with emotional problems, learning disabilities or situations at home, and help them find the resources they need.
  • Discipline scholars according to school policy and enforce campus rules, such as the dress code and attendance policy.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and necessary staff to uphold restorative practices and discipline procedures.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement and behavior modification to instruct scholars in socially acceptable behavior to reduce incidents.
  • Maintain relationships with parents and legal guardians of scholars in order to keep them informed of their scholars' social and emotional progress.

Required:

  • Four-year degree and hold a current Professional Educators License (PEL).
  • Completed degree or course of study in a field related to the subject you will be teaching.
  • Supervised classroom experience or experience working with children.

Preferred:

  • Advanced teaching endorsements or certifications (ESL, LBS1).
  • Bilingual, Spanish speaking.
  • Experience working in diverse, urban teaching environments.
