Provides HR consulting excellence for member cities. Updates and develops HR materials and makes HR presentations as requested under the guidance of the Assistant HR Director. Assists with internal HR work as needed.*Open until filled with first application review January 19th

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

External League HR Programs: Responds to both routine and complex HR-related inquiries from League members by asking questions to understand challenges, appreciate alternate perspectives, brainstorm on best practices, share resources and provide thoughtful suggestions to improve member processes and outcomes.Drafts and updates member HR reference resources residing on our webpage with the lens of prioritizing the League as a resource of choice for our members.Drafts articles on HR topics for League publications as requested.Develops and presents virtual and in-person trainings on human resources, labor relations and management topics. Stays informed of industry information and developments in human resources and labor relations to share best practices assistance to members and assist with HR resource updates.Represents the League to professional human resources groups and member cities, as appropriate.Works with HR & Benefits team to make sure League members and employees receive a timely, coordinated, and consistent approach to issues and concerns.GeneralPerforms other tasks, including internal HR support, as apparent or as assigned by Assistant HR Director.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Considers traditional HR/management concerns and Insurance Trust/Loss Control concerns in providing quality advice, assistance, training, and information to member cities. Demonstrates the ability to analyze, share appropriate resources and offer best practices and alternative solutions for member consideration.Strives for excellent customer service to all external and internal customers by providing quick and accurate responses while maintaining a helpful, friendly, and positive demeanor.Contributes to a teamwork environment, sharing information and assisting others when workload demands are unbalanced among team members.Demonstrates ability to communicate professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing.Demonstrates ability to use computer software efficiently.Demonstrates working knowledge of local, state, and federal HR laws.Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with League staff, member cities and the public.Works independently and able to prioritize and timely follow-through on multiple ongoing projects effectively. Uses good judgment in decision making.Maintains the highest level of confidentiality in dealing with materials and information of a sensitive, private, or confidential nature.Meets or exceeds League Empowerment and Performance Program (LEAPP) results/timelines and other department performance measures.Promotes diversity and inclusion objectives, including race equity objectives, defined by the League and continually examines own performance to eliminate implicit bias in carrying out duties and interacting with the public, coworkers, and members.
