Consulting Member Of Technical Staff

Seattle, Washington, United States Oracle Full time
Description

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) delivers mission-critical applications for top enterprises worldwide, operating in more than 50 regions. Beyond public cloud, OCI is expanding into dedicated, hybrid, multi-cloud, and edge deployments. Within OCI, the Technical Strategy & Oversight (TSO) organization builds the foundational systems and frameworks that power our most demanding tier-one services. From high-performance primitives to a next-generation runtime, TSO is where OCI's boldest infrastructure initiatives begin.

One of those bold initiatives is Autonomous OCI — a greenfield effort to redesign the kernel and runtime of the cloud itself. Today's hyperscaler model grows linearly with people; every region or feature adds manual operations and cost. Meanwhile, demand for AI, GPUs, sovereign, and dedicated regions is accelerating faster than humans can scale. Autonomous OCI breaks this curve by making services fast, resilient, and self-healing by default, enabling OCI to scale to thousands of regions efficiently. The payoff: faster time-to-market, higher margins, and a durable competitive edge.

We are looking for a Consulting Member of Technical Staff, with distributed systems and mission-critical cloud-scale services experience. You have the ability to drive projects and tasks independently as well as provide technical leadership for development teams. You are technically strong, hands-on, and have a track record of delivering highly available, scalable systems.  You understand that simple systems are easier to operate and troubleshoot. You can balance speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

As a Consulting Member of Technical Staff, you will help build the Light-weight Infrastructure (our next-generation runtime for compute, networking, storage, telemetry, and governance) at the core of Autonomous OCI. You'll dive deep into complex systems, design and develop core services, and collaborate across teams to improve scale, resilience, and simplicity. Beyond coding, you'll contribute to platform and product definitions, participate in design reviews, operations, hiring and mentoring, playing a leadership role in shaping the next generation of the OCI Service Platform — a greenfield initiative redefining how cloud infrastructure is built.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience designing and working in distributed systems and cloud services.
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating across teams
  • Experience as a technical lead, guiding architecture, design, and implementation of complex software systems.
  • Experience in either Cloud based Compute, Virtualization and Orchestration systems, or Cloud based storage systems, or Cloud based networking
  • Experience mentoring engineers
  • Expertise in software development, with experience in languages such as Java or Golang.
  • Expertise building and operating hosted software (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, etc.)
  • Experience with containers, Kubernetes, and scalable, reliable workflows is a plus.
