Position: Vocational Counselor

The Vocational Counselor is responsible for coordination of all vocational/educational, supportive and enhanced services.  These services include but are not limited to computer skills training and oversight of vocational assessment/counseling, case management, coordination of on-site VESID services, educational testing and referral for collateral services.

Job Scope:

  • Insure ongoing vocational assessments are completed and accurate for all clients enrolled in program.  Facilitate TABE testing for all clients enrolled.
  • Provide training and coordinate support services for clients enrolled in program.
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure compliance with regard to tracking, reporting and outcome objectives, including ongoing internal review of service delivery.
  • Assist with coordination, training and support to staff at Bellport.
  • Represent the program at agency and county levels as directed by the Site Director.
  • Implement vocational services and promote utilization of staff that serves to enhance program utilization, service delivery and workforce development for clients.
  • Ensure ongoing communication and engage in problem solving activities with Bellport Site Director and program coordinators.
  • Initiate specialized projects, e.g., outreach, site visits, to promote access and utilization of vocational services.
  • Provide support and direction to vocational/educational staff to increase clients' potential for employment.
  • Participate in program and staff meetings, where appropriate.
  • Provide vocational/educational case management services for clients.
  • Provide crisis intervention and group work services and back up coverage as needed.

Each role at Outreach has identified production and outcome goals.   These goals may be stated as a number or as an outcome within an identified time frame.  These goals are intended to provide each job holder the knowledge they need about expected performance.  Accomplishments against these goals will be a discussion point in the annual evaluation.

  1. CRC/LMHC, or higher preferred.

Position Status

This is a full-time non-exempt position. 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and outside in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to travel among assigned sites and locations as needed.
