JOB SUMMARY

HealthRIGHT 360 is a family of programs that gives hope, builds health, and changes lives for people in need by providing comprehensive, integrated, compassionate care that includes primary care, mental health services, and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment.

HealthRIGHT 360's residential substance use disorder (SUD) program is contracted with Department of Public Health's (DPH) Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC) program for residential drug Medi-Cal (DMC) services for up to 99 adult men and women: 33 that are for men who are judicially involved, 33 for men, and 33 for women. The residential DMC program work closely with the other BHC programs to provide a continuum of services for low income/Medi-Cal population. The program is located on the campus of Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in the Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles and will serve all LA County residents.

The Client Advocate will assist the agency with day-to-day functions which includes rotation of front desk intake/registration, welcoming clients, scheduling, assisting clients in enrolling in health insurance coverage, training interns and volunteers, and working as a receptionist for our administrative and clinical/behavioral departments. Client Advocate will provide all client care in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner to maintain a high degree of professional competence and the highest possible ethical standards and to function as part of a care-giving team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Intake Responsibilities: Actively engages in coordinating client flow. Schedules appointments and directs calls throughout the agency. Assists with enrolling clients into health insurance coverage when applicable. Makes follow-up calls for providers; calls to confirm "next day's appointments". Greets and provides customer service to guests, clients, and vendors. Communicates clearly on the phone and accurately takes and delivers messages. Coordinates the dynamic schedule to best suit client needs and maintain efficient client centered care flow, including scheduling interpretation services, etc.

Documentation Responsibilities: Performs general administrative tasks; filing, organizing, data entry, scanning, and billing (e.g., co-pay, SOC, etc.), pulling and disseminating reports. Assists in maintaining computerized appointment system (Welligent) or other assigned system. Processes client data entry for company various electronic systems in accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT 360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements. Completes Financial Forms, Consent Forms, etc.

Administrative Responsibilities: Manages and organizes incoming and outgoing faxes. Population Management for providers and clinical teams. Manages receipt and routing of agency mails (incoming and outgoing). Processes requests for Medical Records. Assists and directs callers and visitors to appropriate employees and departments. Operates a single or multiple position telephone switchboard. Works in a team-oriented environment. Orientation, training, and supervision of volunteers on certain front desk responsibilities may be assigned.

And perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Certification, and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and/or substance use and mental health issues.
  • Experience working with lesbian, bisexual, and transgender clients.
  • 2 years' experience working in a medical front office or behavioral health front office.
  • Welligent and Covered California experience (CAA certified).
  • First Aid and CPR certified within 30 days of employment.

Background Clearance

  • Must not be on active parole or probation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain satisfactory background check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain live scan clearance.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including booster shots. Medical or religious exemptions are not available.
  • Must be able to pass health screening and TB test requirements.

Knowledge

  • Familiarity with other community agencies to make appropriate referrals.
  • Familiarity with EHR and Covered California.
  • Familiarity and ability to use single or multiple position telephone switchboard.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Working knowledge of computerized scheduling and billing systems preferred.
  • Understanding of harm reduction philosophy.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to assist callers and visitors in an approachable and welcoming manner.
  • Ability to manage and de-escalate crisis situations.
  • Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to multitask and juggle multiple priorities.
  • Outstanding ability to follow-through with tasks.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of interdisciplinary team and independently assume responsibility.
  • Ability to provide non-judgmental, client-centered services.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Must complete background check and livescan clearance.
