We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineering Technician to join the Production Engineering Battery Department. This is a hands-on, high-impact role supporting advanced battery manufacturing systems and machine-setup activities across North America.
You will play a key role in increasing operational availability, improving equipment performance, and supporting capital projects from early planning stages through Start of Production (SOP). This position is based at TBMNC in Liberty, NC, reporting to the Seibi Manager.

We're searching for someone with a strong electrical background who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working directly with advanced automation equipment. The ideal candidate is:

What You'll Be Doing
You'll be the onsite expert for electrical machine setup, troubleshooting, and improvement activities, including:
Equipment Troubleshooting & Repair
- Test, diagnose, and repair electrical systems (circuits, relay logic, wiring, motors, servo drives, etc.)
- Write, modify, troubleshoot, and repair PLC logic
- Work with robotics, cameras, and other automation equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair safety systems, hydraulic components, and pneumatic systems
- Interpret and work from electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
Machine Setup & Integration
- Plan and execute machine integration into production
- Perform adjustments, leveling, and quality confirmation
- Support equipment trials at vendors and internal sites
- Certify equipment safety per MMR/MMS requirements (NFPA79, ISO standards) through Safety Integrity Checks
- Develop detailed work schedules (denwacho) and support project planning with engineering teams
Continuous Improvement & Documentation
- Drive improvements in safety, quality, and productivity
- Document work activities using written and electronic systems
- Learn new processes and technologies quickly to support evolving production needs
What You Bring
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- 3–5 years of industrial experience in maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, equipment installation, or debugging
- Strong PLC programming ability (read, write, modify logic)
- Technical experience with servo motion controllers
- Proficiency with relay logic, wiring, and troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with robotics (programming and troubleshooting)
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and plant shutdowns when needed
- Ability to travel up to 30%, domestic and international
- Steel-toe boots required
- Bachelor's degree not required
Nice to Have
These are not required but will make you stand out:
- Technical associate degree or higher (or equivalent experience)
- Pre-production or machine setup experience
- Familiarity with standardized work practices (STW, JIS)
- Experience analyzing quality data from multiple sources
- New plant or facility startup experience
- High-volume production experience, especially in cleanroom environments
Additional Details
- Interview: One 60-minute interview
- Schedule: Start at 7:30 AM, 10-hour shifts; weekend/holiday work as needed
- Travel: After 3 months, travel may include international trips for meetings, technical observations, and hands-on work
