We are seeking dependable, flexible, and dedicated Substitute Teachers to join our Atlas Academy instructional team on an as-needed (PRN) basis, with the potential to transition into full-time roles. Substitute Teachers play an essential role in maintaining continuity of learning by supporting classrooms when lead teachers are absent.
In this role, you will follow provided lesson plans, maintain a safe and structured learning environment, and engage positively with students across various age groups. Your professionalism, adaptability, and commitment ensure that students continue to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally—even when their regular teacher is away.
This paid position provides a meaningful opportunity to support student learning while gaining valuable classroom experience within a collaborative and supportive school community.
Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans, schedules, and classroom routines provided by the lead teacher or administration.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment across diverse classrooms and age groups.
- Provide supervision during classroom instruction, transitions, meals, recess, and other daily activities.
- Engage with students to support academic tasks, enrichment activities, and positive behavioral expectations.
- Ensure student safety throughout campus by actively monitoring behavior and maintaining appropriate supervision.
- Support students with special needs or disabilities, following established plans and teacher guidance.
- Communicate any concerns, incidents, or instructional needs to school administrators.
- Assist with basic caregiving routines, including feeding support or toileting assistance, when necessary.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and assist with first aid when trained and required.
- Participate in training related to school expectations, safety procedures, and instructional practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2–3 years of experience working with children (school, daycare, camps, tutoring, babysitting, nannying, or equivalent)
- Experience working with students with disabilities or special needs is a plus
- Knowledge of basic classroom management and child development principles
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (willingness to obtain required)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and administrators
- Strong communication skills and a calm, professional demeanor
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with student physical needs
- Flexibility and willingness to work across multiple classrooms or grade levels
