Duties
- Diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment including excavators, cranes, bulldozers, loaders, and other industrial machinery using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts and schematics.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, transmission work, hydraulics servicing, suspension adjustments, and electrical diagnostics.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Conduct detailed inspections of farm machinery, industrial equipment, and vehicle components like tractor-trailers to identify issues early and prevent costly downtime.
- Utilize diagnostic tools to troubleshoot automotive and diesel engine problems; repair or replace components as needed to restore optimal function.
- Maintain accurate service records documenting repairs performed, parts used, and maintenance schedules to ensure compliance and efficient workflow.
- Assist in heavy lifting tasks and perform alignment procedures to keep machinery operating at peak performance levels.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy construction equipment or dealership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including hydraulics, air brakes, transmissions, HVAC systems, electrical wiring, and engine diagnostics.
- Skilled in reading schematics and OEM manuals for troubleshooting complex machinery issues.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as excavators or forklifts safely when required for repairs or testing.
- Experience with fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; familiarity with power tools is essential.
- Knowledge of tire service procedures and vehicle maintenance practices for industrial vehicles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety standards and quality workmanship.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly; comfortable working in outdoor environments under varying conditions.
