Overview
Optomi, in partnership with a leading global life sciences and diagnostics organization, is seeking a Full Stack Developer to join their fast-paced Reference Lab Interface Team. This team builds and supports critical in-house applications used by laboratory personnel and technicians across multiple testing locations.
This role offers a blend of software development and support within a product-driven environment focused on accuracy, efficiency, and internal business enablement. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with .NET (Core 3 and above), C#, and SQL, along with strong communication skills and a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset.
Experience of the Right Candidate
- 3–5 years of professional experience developing full-stack applications.
- Strong back-end expertise (80%) in C#, .NET Core 3+, .NET 5+, and SQL.
- Ability to write and optimize stored procedures and work heavily on the server-side and database layer.
- Working knowledge of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (20%).
- Experience developing APIs and presentation layer components using C#.
- Comfortable supporting and maintaining legacy .NET Framework (4.5) applications while contributing to modernization efforts.
- Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure) or DevOps pipelines is a plus.
- Prior experience in healthcare, medical, or laboratory systems is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, ability to triage issues, and a background in supporting end users (not just development).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
Responsibilities of the Right Candidate
- Design, develop, and maintain in-house applications that support laboratory operations, including specimen management and reporting systems.
- Contribute to server-side and database development in C#/.NET and SQL, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Support existing applications while contributing to modernization initiatives—bridging the gap between legacy and new architecture.
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in peer reviews to maintain coding standards.
- Collaborate with lab technicians, analysts, and cross-functional teams to understand user requirements and provide support and training as needed.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues to ensure smooth operations for lab personnel.
- Participate in Agile development cycles, sprint planning, and release management.
- Remain proactive in suggesting improvements to system design, performance, and overall architecture.
- Maintain a balance between development (60%) and support/troubleshooting (40%) work.
Additional Details
- Environment:
Fast-paced, highly collaborative, and technically diverse. - Team Size:
10 developers (mix of Windows and web-based app development). - Culture:
Supportive, modernizing environment—looking for mid-level talent, not entry-level or legacy-only developers. - Growth:
Ongoing pipeline of projects for the next 2–3 years, with opportunities to contribute to new architecture initiatives. - Hybrid Expectation:
2–3 days per week onsite in Burlington, NC; must be within commutable distance (Greensboro is acceptable).
