Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team in providing exceptional care for our residents. This is a contract position with 8-10 hours per month which can vary based on need. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various healthcare settings, including behavioral health, mental health, and acute care. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of nursing administration, compliance with HIPAA regulations, and proficiency in EMR and EHR systems. The Director of Nursing will be responsible for overseeing nursing operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and fostering a collaborative environment among staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the nursing department to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement care plans tailored to each resident's needs while ensuring adherence to medical protocols.
  • Supervise nursing staff, providing guidance and support in their daily duties.
  • Conduct regular documentation reviews to maintain accurate medical records and ensure quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and optimize care delivery.
  • Manage shift schedules effectively to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times.
  • Provide training and mentorship to nursing staff on best practices in patient care and documentation.
  • Stay updated on advancements in nursing practices, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and relevant regulations.

Experience

  • Proven experience in behavioral health/substance use, mental health, or related fields.
  • Strong management skills with a track record of supervising nursing teams effectively.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and patient management.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, HIPAA regulations, and Medicare guidelines.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent communication skills to foster teamwork among staff members.
