Job Description

The State of Michigan's LARA department is seeking a highly skilled Programmer Analyst 6 with strong hands-on experience in Accela, JavaScript, SQL, and .NET to support ongoing system enhancements, integrations, and modernization efforts within licensing and regulatory applications.

This role will work closely with business stakeholders, project managers, and technical teams to analyze requirements, develop solutions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high-quality application performance. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, detail-oriented, and able to communicate clearly in both technical and non-technical terms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure, and customize Accela solutions including workflows, forms, scripts, and integrations.
  • Build and maintain application components using JavaScript, SQL, and .NET technologies.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and scalable solutions.
  • Enhance and maintain database structures, stored procedures, and reporting queries.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and software testing activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of project tasks.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and support guides.
  • Provide application support and assist with production deployments.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to state standards, security protocols, and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience (Must Have – 3–5 Years Each)

  • Accela Development / Configuration / Scripting
  • JavaScript (custom scripting, UI interactions, automation)
  • SQL (queries, stored procedures, database troubleshooting)
  • .NET Framework / .NET Core (C#, API development, integrations)
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with government or regulatory systems
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Understanding of system integrations, APIs, and web services
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must be onsite in Lansing, MI two days per week starting day 1.
