Kennel Technician

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, providing a safe and nurturing environment for pets in our facility. This role involves hands-on interaction with animals, ensuring their well-being while maintaining cleanliness and organization within the kennel.

Duties

• Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and administering medications as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and common spaces to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Assist with animal restraint during grooming or veterinary procedures, ensuring the safety of both pets and staff.
• Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or management.
• Engage in dog handling activities, including walking, exercising, and socializing with the animals.
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' needs and behaviors.
• Assist in pet grooming tasks when necessary, ensuring pets are clean and well-groomed.
• Participate in heavy lifting tasks related to animal care and kennel maintenance as required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in animal care or handling is preferred; experience as a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant is a plus.
• Strong skills in animal restraint and handling techniques to ensure safety during interactions.
• Familiarity with kennel operations and best practices for animal welfare.
• Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and team members.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks associated with kennel maintenance and animal care duties.
• A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being is essential for success in this role.
