Job Description:
The Project Engineer Intern will assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating project tasks. They will work closely with project engineers, managers, and stakeholders to gain hands-on experience while supporting projects to stay on track and within budget.
Internship Details
- 2-3 months projected duration
- $ $21.00 hourly
- Full-time, 30 hours per week on average, estimated to last 12 weeks from May – August
- Must be able to commute to and from Sandy, Utah office and work in-person. Larry H. Miller Real Estate is mindful of student commitments and will be flexible with scheduling as needed.
Primary Duties
- Assist the project team with on-site administrative and technical tasks
- Learn how to review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs for compliance with project requirements
- Shadow project managers and superintendents to understand scheduling, budgeting, and coordination
- Help maintain project documentation, logs, and meeting minutes using project management software (e.g., Procore)
- Observe and support communication between architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients
- Participate in project meetings and site visits to gain real-world construction experience
- Support the team in resolving issues during construction while learning problem-solving approaches
- Follow safety standards on all projects and learn industry best practices
- All other duties as assigned
Experience & Skills
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, preferably in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques
- Great communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in construction software and tools
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Timeliness and dependability are required for this position
Physical Requirements
- This position requires frequent walking, standing, and climbing stairs in/around construction site, apartment homes, models, and properties
- This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions (to include but limited to, rain, snow, heat, hail, wind, and sleet), around hazardous chemicals, dust, dirt, and other particulates
- Must have the ability to read and comprehend large quantities of information, operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry up to 60 lbs. independently
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about office setting
